Smooth Hydrangea
Plant Type:
DECIDUOUS SHRUBSHydrangea arborescens subsp. radiata (ex: Nick Nickou) – Only 1 available. This is a large-flowered lace cap with each of the corymbs 6 inches in diameter. This form with very dark green to blue-green obovate (almost heart-shaped leaves) each hides a surprise: blinding silvery-white leaf undersides flash brilliant light in summer breezes. This is a plant that should be recognized and utilized more... it's certainly more striking and greatly outshines the insipid 'White Dome' (save your money, folks!) in all respects. Site Hydrangea arborescens subsp. radiata in half to full sun planted in fertile soil. If ordered in our autumn shipping window these will arrive pruned for next year's performance.
